Provisional standards for the entry to port and dock use by ships that would use the public docks at the Port of Miike
Description of facilities > Standards for port entry and dock use / Description of standards for port entry and dock use
Ships that would use the Port of Miike public docks shall comply with port regulations, related laws and regulations, and these standards.
1. Boarding of the harbor pilot
  Those ships of 1,000 GT or more shall allow the harbor pilot to board.
2. Tugboat provision
  Those ships of 1,000 GT or more shall use a tugboat.
3. Draft accommodation
  (1) Less than 1,000 GT
  Ships shall make allowances for the draft accommodation taking the tides into account to maintain a clearance from the ship's bottom of at least 10% of the draft.
(2) More than 1,000 GT
  Ships shall make allowances for the draft accommodation taking the tides into account to maintain a clearance from the ship's bottom of at least 3 meters from the central portion of the hull, as a rule, with a stern trim of from 0.3 meters to 1.0 meters. At high tide, however, allowances for the draft accommodation shall be made so that the draft does not exceed the figures in the following chart.

4. Standards for halting port entry or departure
  (1) Wind speed / As a rule, when the average wind speed is in excess of the following figures, ships of 1,000 GT or more will be prohibited from entering or leaving port. Also, as a rule, ships of less than 1,000 GT without a pilot on board will be prohibited from entering or leaving port when the average wind speed exceeds 12 meters per second.

5. Night entry to port
  As a rule, ships will not be allowed to enter the port at night.
6. Approach speed when berthing
  Ships shall use the following berthing speeds as a guideline when berthing.

7. Regulation of operations
  (1)

Preventing the passing of other ships
Those ships operating in the shipping lanes will be prevented from passing other ships in the lane (between groynes) in accordance with the standards in the following chart. Ships entering or leaving port shall comply when asked to cooperate in preventing the passing of other ships by the port management office affiliated with Fukuoka Prefecture's Omuta Civil Engineering Office, pilot boats, or tug boats on patrol.

  (2) Communication of ship movement
1)

Communication to be made by the day before ship arrival or departure
As a rule, ships that would enter or leave the Port of Miike must notify the port management office affiliated with Fukuoka Prefecture's Omuta Civil Engineering Office by 2:00 p.m. on the day before of their scheduled arrival or departure (berthing or leaving port), either directly, or through an agent. Notification of changes to the schedule must also be made.

Notification on the date of port entry or departure
As a rule, ships that would enter or leave the Port of Miike must notify the port management office affiliated with Fukuoka Prefecture's Omuta Civil Engineering Office of the following information as cited in the following regarding their port arrival or departure, and confirm that other ships are not moving in the lanes.
